"Practicing Media for Peace", which ran through the year of 2023, and was made possible through funding from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), served as a transformative force harnessing media to foster unity among diverse communities in Nineveh, Iraq. 

Gathering 19 journalists from varied backgrounds in Nineveh Province, the project initiated an inclusive learning environment through workshops. This project delved into an analysis of Iraq's media landscape, empowering participants to critically think about how media narratives shape social cohesion between different communities. Taking this knowledge further, a second phase of this project then matched participants in a partnership with media outlets based in Nineveh.

Insightful focus group discussions with audiences in different cities in Nineveh added depth, informing the creation of impactful media content. Collaborations with five local media outlets solidified as production teams, merging insights for cohesive narratives promoting unity. 

The cooperation that occurred between journalists and media outlets is something commendable in terms of the understanding and comprehensive discussions that took place. This greatly contributed to the quality of the reports, enriching them with accurate and sincere data and content, as it stemmed from a collective effort between all journalists and institutions. I can say that this is the result of in-person training, online meetings, and continuous communication within communication groups.”

The project concluded with the creation of the platform "Tashabuk.media," an Arabic term signifying unity, emerged as a collective archive showcasing journalists' works and visions, embodying dedication to fostering solidarity through media. Overall, this project stands as a testament to the media's power in unifying societies, leaving a lasting impact on understanding and harmony in Nineveh Province.
