Unbroken: 14 Stories of Ukrainian Resilience
MiCT launched the book titled “Unbroken: 14 Stories of Ukrainian Resilience”, a carefully curated compilation of powerful stories by young, local and regional journalists from Ukraine. Each story offers a first-hand perspective on how war has profoundly shaped the lives of its protagonists, revealing their remarkable courage and resilience in the face of adversity. These stories are a testament to the extraordinary bravery of the journalists, who risked their lives to capture these narratives. Through their unwavering empathy, they earned the trust of their subjects, allowing for the deeply personal and authentic storytelling you will see in this book.
All media outlets and journalists featured here were supported as part of projects designed and implemented by the German NGO Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) with the generous support of the German Federal Foreign Office. Those projects were implemented with the support of the Ukrainian media NGOs MDF and LMF.
Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, MiCT has supported more than 130 young journalists under 25 with stipends, psychological support, technical equipment, educational trainings and a co-working hub. It has also worked with more than 25 regional media outlets in different regions of Ukraine. In June 2024, MiCT together with UNESCO and linked to the existing Fellowship program by the German Federal Foreign Office as part of the Hannah-Arendt-Initiative, will open a Media Hub in Kyiv, focused on discussion and exchange between journalists and civil society actors.
