Music for the minds - Our own Music production and distribution
Political and social issues are often addressed by music, theatre, art and literature – this holds true for inter-communal warfare in South Sudan as well as revolutionary clashes in Sudan or Egypt.
Political and social issues are often addressed by music, theatre, art and literature – this holds true for inter-communal warfare in South Sudan as well as revolutionary clashes in Sudan or Egypt. Songs, poems and films are often closer to the people than political speeches and newspaper articles, especially where traditional media is regarded with suspicion and distrust, where media are censored or cannot reach the people due to a lack of distribution or illiteracy.
MICT has worked with musicians, artists and intellectuals in many countries. For example, Sudan Votes - Music Hopes is a music production including artists from all parts of what is now Sudan and South-Sudan. The music was distributed on cassette tapes across the countries. Our latest release, Sawtuha, is an album bringing together musicians from Tunisia, Libya and Egypt plus one singer from Syria.
