Sudanese and South Sudanese journalists together in Kenya
In January 2013, the team working on The Niles, MICT’s Sudan and South Sudan journalism project, met with over 20 of their correspondents in Nairobi, Kenya. A fresh outbreak of violence in South Sudan at the time meant that the production workshop had to be held in Nairobi rather than Juba. Reporters from Sudan and South Sudan came together in the Kenyan capital to write stories for publication on The Niles website; they also discussed the view of current events from inside each of the neighbouring nations, as well as the international media’s take on it, received coaching from Kenyan documentary makers and print journalists and debated journalistic ethics.
