Sudan Media Delegation In Berlin
Six senior journalists and media makers from the Sudanese capital of Khartoum visited Berlin in early December 2015 in order to acquaint themselves with the German media and politics landscape, with special regard to Germany’s policy on the Northeast African country. Our Sudan department organised the programme of one week:

The tour started appropriately with a visit to the Federal Press Conference – a unique institution: where it is not the government that summons the journalists but the journalists summon the government spokespeople. In the editorial rooms of the dailies taz and Der Tagesspiegel the group was introduced to different models of private media houses. The public broadcasting sector was presented at the Arabic Department of Deutsche Welle TV.

Political talks included meetings with the head of the Horn of Africa department at the Federal Foreign Office, desk officers at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and the Berghof Foundation. Furthermore, the delegation was received at the Federal Parliament by the Honourable Johannes Selle, member of the committees for international cooperation and media respectively.
