Open Eye Award 2013
Project: An award for the best journalism and media production appearing on MICT’s Correspondents website, from Libya, Egypt or Tunisia, over the past two years.

Production Runtime: December 2013 – January 2014

Partners: German Federal Foreign Office

MICT’s Open Eye Award awards prizes for the best journalism in a variety of categories, as published on the MICT website, Correspondents.org.

The website publishes material from over 120 correspondents from Libya, Egypt and Tunisia who have contributed over 2,000 different stories and reports online.

In 2013, the theme of the Open Eye Award was “youth”. It seemed as though the Arab Spring revolutions that began such a historical change in the Middle Eastern and North African regions had been founded by each country’s youth. But now it felt as though the revolution’s aftermath was being managed by each country’s elders. The best stories to tackle this important topic were  given prizes, with the winners receiving a trip to the prize giving ceremony in Berlin.
