In East Africa we have just launched  “EARS – East Africa Radio Service”, an aggregator of radio station advertising space, allowing smaller radio stations to ‘unionize’ and leverage their collective strength for better advertising fees. Radio is by far the most popular media in Africa, but because of fragmentation local radio stations struggle to make end’s meet. EARS provides an innovative solution to connect national and international advertisers to a large, untapped population of rural listeners, while ensuring that local radio stations are given fair and payable rates. With this project, radio can remain diverse, local, and profitable.
