Local Radio In Tanzania Assessment
MiCT has been working in Tanzania since mid-2014, with a study that looked at how local community radio stations could better fund themselves. Staff from 14 local radio stations, as well as representatives from the “Community Media Network of Tanzania” (COMNETA), were interviewed for the study. The stations are based in Dar es-Salaam, Zanzibar, Mwanza and Iringa. The study proposes approaches to fundraising for them as well as to developing COMNETA.  It was made possible thanks to support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

In March 2015, our colleagues Christine Liehr and Alexander Macbeth returned to Tanzania to take a closer look at the organisational structures of COMNETA. This ongoing research is funded by UNESCO.
