Fresh From The Press For The Sudans
The sixth print edition of our Sudan and South Sudan project has been published at the beginning of December 2015. The issue is both in English and Arabic in order to overcome language barriers between and within the two Sudans. Our team has been continuously training more than fifty young journalists from what are now (Northern) Sudan and South(ern) Sudan since 2009 to promote peaceful dialogue.

“A fool will not even find water in the Nile!” – This Sudanese proverb sets the theme for the sixth special issue of our THE NILES network. Its correspondents in Sudan and South Sudan met fishermen, who deal carefully with the water that nourishes them, and business people, who exploit the resource without restraint. They report on conflicts around water but also on exemplary projects where water is shared peacefully.

5.000 copies each of the new edition shall be distributed in Sudan and South Sudan respectively as supplements to independent newspapers.

In 2014, The Niles print series was displayed at the prestigious German media prize “LEAD awards” held at Hamburg’s Deichtorhallen and received an honourable mention. Articles by The Niles have been featured by The Guardian’s Africa Network.
