Conflict-Sensitive Reporting In Colombo
On October 19 and 20 we held a workshop in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo as a cooperation with the “Sri Lanka Press Institute” (SLPI), the “Media Resource and Training Centre” (MRTC) of the University of Jaffna, and the European Union. The overarching theme was „Media & Reconciliation in Sri Lanka: Towards a Culture of Conflict Sensitive Reporting“. The seminar was led by Professor Jake Lynch, who is the Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney and an internationally acclaimed expert on peace-journalism, and our own editor-in-chief Seven Secker. Seminar participants were executives and editors-in-chief of publishing houses from different areas of the Island nation, both from the Sinhalese and Tamil media.
